Richmond's First Certified Primary Stroke Center
At CJW Medical Center, both of our Emergency Centers Chippenham and Johnston-Willis are poised and ready to call a special Code Neuro when a stroke patient arrives, speeding up diagnosis and treatment, improving the chance for a full recovery. This prompt, expert stroke care is one reason CJW has been named Richmonds first certified Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Spotlight on Excellence... CJW Medical Center has been presented Senate Joint Resolution No. 427 commending Virginia's certified Primary Stroke Centers. A copy of the resolution was given to CJW Medical Center as an expression of the General Assembly's gratitude for our dedication to improving treatment for stroke patients in the Commonwealth.

We provide a continuum of care for stroke patients that includes inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services on an ongoing basis. There are options such as surgery, SaeboFlex, medical drug management and other resources like support groups and adaptive driving. Providing Support for Stroke SurvivorsThrough a partnership with the Richmond Chapter of Mended Hearts and the American Stroke Association, a division of the American Heart Association, CJW Medical Center now offers the Stroke Peer Visitor Program as a support service to stroke patients and their families. The Peer Visitor Program provides hope and encouragement to stroke families. |
